9. Hazbin Hotel Season 2

Creator Vivienne Medrano's audacious adult musical series, which originated as a fan-funded short, fully hit its stride in its sophomore season. Following the game-changing revelations of the first season, the narrative expands significantly, following the ambitious media overlord Vox as he seizes command of the situation, sparking a chain of ever-more explosive confrontations that naturally end in elaborate musical numbers.

While it may lack a single breakout song on the level of season one's "iconic tune," this is due to everything in this season being increasingly interwoven. The fight sequences, personal development, and above all the score and songs are all more sophisticated. The story moves the main storyline forward while delivering plenty of weird, wild, and ultimately fun dark fantasy.

8. Daredevil: Born Again

As a successor to the acclaimed Netflix series, Daredevil: Born Again had immense shoes to fill. Despite well-documented development challenges, the resulting show demonstrates it was worthy of the effort. The story follows Matt Murdock once his secret identity as Daredevil is exposed, leaving him vulnerable to enemies both past and new threats in a refreshed version of his familiar world.

The first episode is a thrilling return to form, evoking the gritty feeling audiences cherished from the original incarnation. Although the subsequent episodes explore some new narrative ground, the season concludes powerfully, leaving fans keenly awaiting a second season.

7. Common Side Effects

A unexpected 2025 gem, this show could be described as a crime saga with the sensibility of King of the Hill. Helmed by an Adult Swim veteran alongside writer Steve Hely, it tells the saga of a mild-mannered mycologist who discovers a curative fungus and quickly finds himself hunted by forces including unscrupulous Big Pharma CEOs to government agents.

Far from being a parody, the narrative plays out with the serious intensity of a 1970s paranoia film. Accentuated by trippy visuals and an eerie musical soundtrack, the plot explores deeper mysteries about the substance's true capabilities. It's a smart, beautifully animated, and completely compelling ten-episode season.

6. Fallout Season 2

The acclaimed adaptation of the iconic gaming franchise came back with a second batch of episodes that expanded its epic lore and broadened its nuclear wasteland world. While it travels in the direction of the legendary location of New Vegas, the story is far from a straight retelling of that title; rather, it continues to explore themes of control and autonomy.

The show expertly balances multiple storylines and perspectives, from Lucy's mission for justice to a knight's reckoning with the ideology of the Brotherhood of Steel. The result is a rich layered and utterly absorbing addition to the expanding Fallout mythology.

5. Invincible Season 3

The visceral and heartfelt adult animation series continues its winning momentum in season 3.
