Esteemed Performer Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Famed For Parts in Friends and The Middle, Dies at the Age of Sixty.
American actor Finn, who featured in beloved television series such as Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has passed away aged 60.
The comedy and improvisation performer succumbed at his home in Los Angeles recently after undergoing treatment for cancer from 2022 onward, per reports.
"He saw everyone as a friend - solely future friends he had yet to meet," his relatives said in a statement.
They noted that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".
A Notable Career on Screen
His initial on-screen part was on a show starring George Wendt in the mid-90s, where he played the titular character's brother.
He was also seen in a regular part on "Murphy Brown" from 1995 to 1997.
He appeared as Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a host known to delegate unpleasant chores to his guests.
During the 90s and 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on numerous well-known programs, including:
- "King of Queens"
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- "House"
His most famous role for playing Bill Norwood in "The Middle", featuring across eight seasons of the show between 2011 and 2018.
His film credits are "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
Off-Screen Life
Away from his television work, Finn was an improv performer and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.
He was a member of a six-person improv troupe called Beer Shark Mice.
"Finn guided, supported, and advised numerous pupils over the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person who has an unkind word to say about him," his relatives stated.
Paying homage, colleague and actor Richard Kind noted there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, authentic human being you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, helping you be funnier and better. A wonderful father and man," he posted online.
Finn is remembered by his spouse Donna, his three kids, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
